Popular Routes

The runs we arrange
most often.

Distances and drive times are approximate and depend on traffic, roadworks and season. Your quoted fare is fixed regardless.

Chopin Airport → Warsaw Centre

Roughly 10 km to Śródmieście — usually 20–30 minutes, longer in weekday peak. The standard arrival transfer for business travellers and embassy visitors.

Warsaw Modlin → Warsaw Centre

Around 40 km north-west of the city, typically 45–60 minutes. Worth pre-booking — Modlin has far thinner ground transport than Chopin, especially on late arrivals.

Kraków Balice → Old Town

About 12 km, usually 20–30 minutes. Note that much of the Old Town is restricted to vehicles, so we set the drop-off at the nearest legal point to your hotel.

Kraków → Auschwitz-Birkenau

Oświęcim sits about 70 km west of Kraków — roughly 1 hour 15 minutes each way. Booked as a private return with waiting time; museum entry is reserved separately.

Warsaw → Kraków

Around 295 km via the A1/S7 corridor, generally 3 to 3.5 hours. Quoted one-way or as a full day with stops such as Częstochowa on the way through.

Kraków → Zakopane

About 110 km south into the Tatras — usually 2 hours, longer in ski season and on summer weekends when the Zakopianka backs up.

Gdańsk → Malbork Castle

Roughly 60 km south-east, about an hour each way. A common half-day from the Tri-City or from a cruise call at Gdynia.

Warsaw → Gdańsk

Around 340 km up the S7, typically 3.5 to 4 hours. Suited to travellers with luggage or tight onward connections at Gdańsk airport.

Cross-Border Transfers

Poland is in the EU and Schengen, so road transfers to Berlin, Prague, Vienna and Vilnius are arranged on request. Tell us the border crossing and we will confirm feasibility before quoting.

Before You Fly

Worth knowing
about Poland.

General travel information only — always confirm entry requirements with Smartraveller and the Polish authorities before booking flights.

Currency

Poland uses the Polish złoty (PLN), not the euro. Cards are widely accepted in cities. Your Drivision fare is invoiced in AUD before travel, so there is nothing to pay the driver.

Time zone

Central European Time (UTC+1), shifting to CEST (UTC+2) over the northern summer. That puts Poland roughly 8 to 10 hours behind Canberra depending on the season — allow for it when scheduling calls.

Entry requirements

Poland is in the EU and the Schengen Area. Australian passport holders have generally been able to enter visa-free for short stays, but EU entry rules are changing — check Smartraveller for current requirements before you fly.

Driving conditions

Traffic drives on the right. The motorway network between major cities is modern, though some sections are tolled. Winter brings snow and ice, particularly in the south and the Tatras.

Language

Polish is the official language. English is common in hotels and business settings, less so with regional drivers — which is why we confirm an English-speaking driver in writing on every booking.

Consular support

The Australian Embassy in Warsaw provides consular assistance for Australians in Poland. Keep its contact details and the Smartraveller emergency number with you alongside our 1300 line.

FAQ

Frequently asked
questions.

Yes. Send your itinerary to Drivision and we coordinate the booking with a licensed Polish operator on your behalf. You deal with one Australian company, one invoice in AUD, and one 1300 number — not a foreign call centre.
We ask for a minimum of 72 hours for standard airport and city transfers. Peak periods, multi-day touring, larger vehicles and regional pickups should be booked 7 to 14 days ahead where possible.
We request an English-speaking driver on every Poland booking. If English is essential to your trip — for example a business itinerary or a guided day trip — flag it at the time of booking and we will confirm it in writing before your invoice is issued.
You are invoiced by Drivision in Australian dollars at a fixed fare agreed before travel. Poland uses the Polish złoty (PLN) and has not adopted the euro, so booking through us removes exchange-rate guesswork and foreign card surcharges on the day.
Yes. Oświęcim is roughly 70 km west of Kraków, around 1 hour 15 minutes each way by road. We arrange private return transfers with waiting time. Entry to the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum is timed and must be reserved separately through the museum — we can schedule your transfer around the entry slot you hold.
Yes. Long-distance and multi-day itineraries such as Warsaw to Kraków, Kraków to Zakopane or the Tri-City coast are quoted as point-to-point transfers or as a car and driver at your disposal for the day.
Free cancellation up to 72 hours before the scheduled pickup on overseas bookings. Inside 72 hours, charges depend on the local operator's terms, which are set out on your invoice before you pay.
Yes. Meet-and-greet in the arrivals hall with a name board is standard on Poland airport pickups, and flights are monitored so delays are covered.
Yes — tell us ages, seat types and luggage counts when you enquire. Ski gear, oversized cases and larger groups all affect vehicle selection, so it is better to over-declare than arrive at a car that will not take the load.
